Yes lots of internet chatter about google blacklisting comparison guides but they are missing some nuance (you don't get viral with nuance).
All cases were from companies doing biased comparison guides or making them on a use case unrelated to them (kinda like if HubSpot was comparing IT security tools).
There's no problem (for now) doing comparison guides when it is related to use cases of your product and you write a balanced take.
It's always the same, as long as Google finds the content helpful for readers and is authoritative then you're fine.
